π About Purple Girl
Welcome to Purple Girl!
I’m Lekshmi Kiran, Founder of Purple Girl.
With a Master’s degree in Commerce and a professional journey that spans television, corporate leadership, and entrepreneurship, my path has always been driven by creativity, purpose, and connection. I began my career as a television anchor in India, followed by over 16 years in the corporate world. I later spent seven rewarding years running a business teaching children robotics and coding.
During that time, I noticed something that deeply concerned me—more and more young children were developing vision issues at an early age, largely due to increased screen time. It made me reflect on how much childhood has changed, and how important it is to bring back creativity, imagination, and meaningful engagement.
That realization led me to pursue another passion—writing children’s books.
I started with Chester Adopts a Family, a true story about how our dog Chester chose us, instead of the other way around. That journey continued with Chester’s Valentine’s Day and interactive coloring books, including themes like Chinese New Year and learning about different dog breeds. Each book was created to help children learn, imagine, and connect—away from screens.
Creating something tangible from these stories had always been a dream of mine. In 2025, that dream became a reality when I designed a cookie jar inspired by a character from my book—a moment that brought storytelling and product design together.
Purple Girl was born from a simple belief—our pets are not just animals, they are family.
As a proud pet parent to Chester and Chico, I’ve always wanted products that are not only functional, but also meaningful, beautiful, and full of personality. I believe that if we appreciate unique and thoughtfully designed products, our “fur kids” deserve that same love and attention.
On a personal note, I’ve been married to my husband Ravi—the love of my life—for 22 years. We have a son, Madhav, who is currently a pre-med student, and our home is filled with joy thanks to our two dogs.
Purple Girl is more than a brand—it’s a reflection of my passion for animals and my desire to create thoughtful, unique products that bring joy to pets and their families.
Thank you for being here and supporting this journey π
With love,
Lekshmi Kiran
